Obituary for Raymond Robear

Raymond Robear
Raymond Nelson Robear, 86 of Burlington VT peacefully went home to his heavenly father on April 19, 2017 from the University of Vermont Medical Center following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family during his final hours.

Ray, a former member of the United States navy, was a devoted and loving family man. Whenever he was asked "How are you doing", he would always respond with a wide smile and his trademark "Oh great". Ray was a native Vermonter who loved to spend summers with his family at his camp in Colchester. He graduated from Bentley College and worked as an accountant for GE and IBM for many years. He married Maureen Hoose Miles in 1965. He lived in Colchester and Winooski, raising 6 children. He eventually became a snow bird before moving permanently to Florida with Maureen. Upon her passing, Ray moved back to Vermont to be close to his family. Ray most recently resided at Starr Farm nursing center in Burlington and continued to attend Sunday masses at St Francis Xavier church in Winooski. Ray's passions included a love for watching the Red Sox along with petting the family dogs. Both brought out his inner child.

Ray is predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Maureen as well as his parents Raymond Robear Sr and Alice Meunier as well as his stepfather Armand Meunier and his son Robert Miles II. He is survived by his children Karen Miles of NC, Leonard miles and his wife Laurie of Milton, Scott Miles and his wife Tamera of NV, Rachel Lavallee and her husband Kevin of Colchester and Jason Robear and his wife Patricia of Alburgh. 13 Grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Starr Farm Nursing Center and Pillsbury Manor South for the wonder care provided to Raymond in his final years. We would also like to personally thank the wonder doctors, nurses and staff of the University Medical Center Baird 4 floor for the unbelievable love and care they gave Ray during his illness and passing. They are remarkable people who truly care and respect the patient and family entrusted to their care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Winooski on Tuesday, April 25th at 11:00AM followed by Internment at St Francis Xavier Cemetery. A celebration of Ray's life will follow the internment at St Francis Xavier School. Calling hours for Raymond will be at Lavigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service on Main St in Winooski on Monday April 24th from 4PM - 7PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ray's name can be made to St Francis Xavier school, 5 St Peter St. Winooski VT 05446 where Raymond was once president of the PTO. Condolences may be shared at
