Obituary for Joan Bellefeuille

Joan Grace Bellefeuille, 85, a resident of Winooski and Essex, died peacefully, with loving family bu her side on Wednesday November 1 2017 at the McClure-Miller VNA Respite House after a long battle with cancer.

Joan was born in Winooski on September 25, 1932, the daughter of the late Eugene and Grace (Companion) Bellefeuille. After graduating from Cathedral High School, she acquired a nursing degree, and her career as a registered nurse at UVMC spanned more than 35 years, a job she loved and was intensely proud of. Joan was also an avid sports fan, and enjoyed watching her beloved Patriots, Celtics, and Red Sox. She loved going on bus trips to the casinos and shopping for clothes and Christmas gifts.

She is survived by her sister Lorraine Goven of North Carolina, her niece Stephanie Harris and her husband Michael of Milton, her Nephew Michael Trono and his wife Joyce of Colchester, her niece Patty Douville of South Carolina, her niece Joann Goven of New Zealand, her nephew Earl Goven of Conneticut, ten great nieces and nephews Jacob, Alexandra, and Caleb Harris, Michael and Christopher Trono, Katie Mobbs, Ethan and Sean Douville, and Shane and Alex Goven. She was predeceased by her parents, Eugene and Grace Bellefeuille, two sisters Constance Trono and Claire Bellefeuille, and her brother-in-law Michael Trono. Special thanks go to the team of physicians involved in her care, especially her oncologist Dr. Dennis Sanders and his wonderful staff who saw her through many cancer treatments, Dr David Little for his continuous support and care, and Dr Carlos Pino for expertly managing her pain. Special thanks also to the caregivers at Respite House for the exceptional care and love they gave her in the short time she was there.

There will be no visiting hours as per Joan's request. There will be a private graveside service for family and close friends on Tuesday November 7 at 11:00am at Resurrection Park Cemetery in South Burlington. Condolences may be shared at www.lavignefuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the care of LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
