Obituary for Andre Jean "Andy" Valley

Andre Jean "Andy" Valley
ANDRE J. VALLEY WINOOSKI - Surrounded by his family, Andre J. "Andy" Valley, of Winooski, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014, at his home, after a heroic battle with pancreatic and spinal cancer. Since his diagnosis in June 2014, he did everything in his power to maintain a positive outlook and take steps towards getting better. Andy enjoyed one last campground gathering with his family on July 4th. Born in Winooski on Nov. 20, 1944, fourth child of the late George J. and Germaine (Lavallee) Valley, he attended St. Francis School, Rice Memorial and Burlington High School. He served with the Vermont Army and Air Force National Guards for several years. On May 7, 1966, Andy married the great love of his life, Anita Lucille Savard, at St. FrancisXavier Church in Winooski. He was a thirdgeneration and life-long member of the parish, where he walked his daughters down the aisle. Andy enjoyed camping with his family in their R/Vs, residing at their camp on Lake Champlain in Milton and at his hunting camp in Bakersfield, and riding his Harley Davidson with his son, Kris. Always a vintage car enthusiast, he owned a 1964 Stingray and restored a 1965 Corvette. In his profession, Andy was known for the meticulous craftsmanship of his autobody work. He owned two businesses, Andy's Body Shop from 1979 to 2013, and Andy's Used Cars from 1997 to the present. From childhood, his son, Kris, worked alongside him in both businesses. In Andy's brief retirement, he looked forward to spending more time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. In addition to his beloved wife, Anita, he is survived by their four children: Karen Tullgren of Colchester, her husband, Paul, and their four children, Ashley, Kayley, Timothy John Valley, and Kelsey; Kimberly LeClair and her husband, Jim, of Wilmington, N.C., and their two children, Kayleigh and Scott; Kristopher J. Valley, of Winooski; and Karrie Schultz and her husband, Robert, of Bolton, and their children, Allie Marie, Dustin, Aiden, and Jacob; two sisters, Susan L. Valley, and Jo Anne Smith, both of Winooski; two brothers, Roderick G. Valley and his wife, Jeanne, of Fairfax, and George R. Valley and his partner, Michael Dwyer, of Pittsford. His other relatives include two brothers-in-law, Roland Savard of Trumbull, Conn., and Bernard Savard of Wheeling, W.V.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Couture of Grand Prairie, Texas; an aunt, Gilberta T. Bergeron of Burlington; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Main St. in Winooski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 15, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on St. Peter St. in Winooski. Military honors will be accorded Mr. Valley by the Vermont National Guard. Online condolences can be shared with the family www. Memorial contributions may be made to the , VT Division, Inc., 55 Day Lane, Williston, VT 05495; or Make A Wish Foundation, 100 Dorset St., South Burlington, VT 05403.
