Obituary for Beverly Lorraine Noyes (Roberson)

Beverly L. Noyes, 84, of Williston, Vt.., passed peacefully on Jan. 16, 2015 at the Vermont Respite House surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Sutton, Vt. on April 9, 1930, the daughter of the late Walter J. and Beulah G. (Waterman) Roberson. Her father died when she was 5 years old and she, along with brothers Earl and Everett, later became part of a blended family and were raised by their caring stepfather Edward C. Kimball.

Beverly attended Barton Academy and moved to Montpelier, Vt.. following graduation. It was there she met the love of her life, Franklin L Noyes, on a blind date. They were married on Christmas Eve, 1948. They were residents of St. Johnsbury, Vt., and former residents of Barnet, Vt., and Manchester, N.H. Beverly was predeceased by her husband on March 20, 1991.

Her deep interest in theater, Broadway musicals, and the big city prompted numerous excursions to New York City. As an avid reader, she at times would read two to three novels a week. In addition, her accomplished stitchery became family heirlooms to be treasured for generations to come. She was inexhaustible, early to rise and late to bed. Her work ethic was always commendable; domestically raising a family, and professionally creating a career. She retired from the Bouffard Insurance Agency in 1995.

Beverly is survived by her four children and their spouses: Linda Bickford and husband Wayne of Bumpass, Va., Lana Hale and husband Melvin of Grantham, N.H., Franklin Noyes Jr. and wife Felicity of Vine Grove, Ky., and Phillanne Armstrong and husband Kevin of Williston, Vt.; Nine grandchildren: Melissa, Wayne Jr, Ryan, Jennifer, Heidi, Franklin Ill., Tyler, Jordan, and Seth; Ten great-grandchildren: Holden, Lorryn, Connor, Jackson, Lindsay, Ella, Mia, Peyton, Franklin IV, and Annabelle; A brother: Earl Roberson of Auburndale, Fla.; Two sister-in-laws: Freda Clark of St. Johnsbury, Vt. and Mona Bunnell of Monroe, N.H.; Many nieces and nephews; And best friend and travel pal: Norma Leach of Loveland, Colo.

Online condolences may be shared with the family at

In keeping with Beverly's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service and memorial gathering is planned for the spring. More details will follow as time nears.
