Obituary for Michael S "Mick" McKenzie

Michael Sean McKenzie, passed away on June 15, 2018 of complications from a brief illness. 'Mick', son of Mike and Anne(Bruneau)  McKenzie was 55 years old. He was a graduate of Colchester High School in 1980 and he spent 23 years in the United States Coast Guard .
The 'Mickster'  as he was known to those closest to him, loved many, many things. High on his list were his son Liam, his parents "Mimi & Papa" and his siblings Kate (Dan Schueren ) and Matt, his stepdaughter Tiffany and his ex-wife Audrey. He loved life and all those he ever met and those who met him, loved him. He was of strong faith, though not much of a church goer. The best tool in his tool bag was humor and he used it often. Every year he lived for his trip to North Fayston Vermont to attend the North Fayston  Fireside Lounge and all his brothers there for deer season. He had a special relationship  with all his nieces and nephews , Nicholas Couture , Ben and Emily Schueren and Taylor and Hunter McKenzie with a special affinity for his niece Emy Lou as they both traveled the same road together. He loved the New York Yankees and needling  Boston Red Sox fans and held love, family and the good Lord closest to his heart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 AM Thursday June 21, 2018 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 416 Church Road, Colchester, VT 05446. with burial to follow with Military Honors at Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care the care of LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Donation may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project. Condolences may be shared at
