Obituary

Ronald Francis Giroux passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on May 24, 2019. Born in Burlington, VT on April 12, 1946 he was the son of Robert Victor and Anna Elaine (Copas) Giroux, both who preceded him. After graduating from Rice Memorial High School, Ron joined the Vermont Army National Guard in 1965. His first career lasting 25 years started in 1969, when he joined RJ Reynolds Company as a Sales Representative. After retiring from RJ Reynolds in 1994, Ron became a Realtor and started his second career with Janes & Jacob Better Homes and Gardens in S. Burlington. When he retired in 2013, he was affiliated with ReMax North Professionals in Colchester.
In earlier years Ron engaged in sailing, collecting coins and antique clocks. Later he enjoyed the company of his cats, taking cruises and collecting electronics. Ron was known for his good sense of humor. He always loved telling jokes and getting people to laugh. Ron would walk into a room full of strangers and would quickly end up in the company of friends.
Ron is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sandra, and his children Sean and (Annette) Giroux of Williston, Vermont and Meghan Giroux of Bristol, Vermont. Ron was the eldest of ten siblings. His nine surviving siblings are Robert and (Donna) Giroux from Bay City, Michigan, Liz Philbrick of Fairhope, Alabama, Rev. William Giroux of Fairfield, Vermont, Steve and (Roberta) Giroux of Windsor, Vermont, Mary Giroux of Palmetto, Florida, James Giroux of San Francisco, California, Patty and (Simon) Assaf of Redlands, California, John and (Connie) Giroux of Loveland, Colorado and Dr. Andrew Giroux of Winter Haven, Florida. He is also survived by fourteen nieces and nephews all of whom have fond memories of their “Uncle Ronnie” and twelve great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 am on Friday July 12, 2019 followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 am at LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Main St, Winooski, VT 05404. Burial at Resurrection Park in S. Burlington followed by a luncheon. Ron requested donations be made (in memory of Georgie) to the North Country Animal League, 16 Mountain View Meadow Rd, Morristown, VT 05661.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My deepest condolences to the family. I knew Ron during the 1980's, 1990's when he was a sales rep . We did business together but we always had a good time doing it. He was soft spoken and often humorous and we considered ourselves friends. Peace to you Ron. Alan Luzzatto

Our condolences to Sandy and the entire Giroux family. We have so many fond memories of "Uncle Ronnie" over the years that it is hard to imagine that there will be no more. Ron will be remembered as a good friend and a caring person to all. Our love.
